Baseless rants, Frivolously Yours

Frivolously Yours, in the new year.

I am running out of thoughts. I think I am not thinking at all. No-cogito ergo no-bloggum.

Lately there hasn’t been much that comes my way, no “eventful” passage of time. Life has, yet again, defaulted to mundane and boring.

My plants have been withering. The monsoons miserably failed and the cold is biting. And the poor plants haven’t been offered any respite. Two weeks back was the eighth time I tried to grow a red oleander from stem cuttings – FUTILE!

On the slightly non-downer side, I changed jobs. Which means, I will earn a little more, which in turn means I will spend a little more. So that can count as both good and bad. Or that can be either good or bad. Perspective, you know.

Speaking of perspectives, I recently read this somewhere (Quality before Design, Gause & Weinberg) – the Mary had a little lamb heuristic. It is funny, and deeply humbling. You should google it.

And the new year’s resolution of eating healthy has been dissolved. Yes, already. In fact, 5 days ago.

See ya.

Today was a Brown Day.

image

First there was this big brown spider. I’m going to call it Polly since I always confuse Along came Polly with Along came a spider. So, now, this thieving Polly has one of my guppies in its web. Dead and dry. I have absolutely no idea how it could lure a fish to its nest. Although, any 10 yo can figure out that a kingfisher probably picked the fish up and dropped it and Polly hauled it from there. But come on, I like drama.. So. Oh My God!! How could a spider!!

Next is this cute Brown Caterpillar. I’m gonna call it Charlie. Because you know, Charlie Brown.

A (wannabe) Bug’s Life.

This is an Ashoka tree in my garden.

Ashoka Tree

If I were a bug, and if I had been climbing up the trunk of the tree this afternoon, this is what I’d have seen.

Now, if I were the same bug. Or another. It doesn’t matter. And I lived in this plant, whose name I have been struggling to find :

This is how my surrounding would be :

Today was a hot and lazy Saturday. And I didn’t know what else to do.

Dear Airtel 4G Girl.

Dear Airtel 4G Girl,

Hi. I think I speak for all of mankind when I say you USED to be one of our most loved persons in the recent years – from the day we first saw you till just a few months back.

You were this cute, sassy, charming girl on the rooftop of a picturesque sub-urban town plan. Brimming with so much confidence, you were the girl every teen wanted to be and every mother wanted her 2yo to grow up into.

If you had campaigned for a political party, girl, you would have had a sweeping victory. Have you had enrolled for the post of a school teacher, this generation’s literacy rate would have shot up to a 100%.

But did you do any of that, Airtel 4G Girl? No, you did not, and instead you chose to go from bowling alleys to beach resorts, music concerts to dormitories to movie theatres. Hounding innocent people and incessantly nagging them. Oh what you had become! And all the while you did not even realize that you were slowly turning into somebody that we wanted to run far away from. You went from awesome to terribly annoying in just under 2 months.

I feel sad, Airtel 4G Girl. I really do. I used to like you so much. But not anymore. I mute it when you come on TV between overs. I switch channels just to avoid hearing you say “joh. gol. nahi. hai”.
I think you need to stop, 4G Girl. For your own good. To an extent, for ours too. Okay, lets just say, for the greater good.

BUT. PLEASE. JUST. STOP.

I remain, yours truly,
poachedHens.

Baseless rants, Frivolously Yours, Growing pains

Frivolously Yours,

Time for me to be frivolous. Again.

Here is some frivolous news. I Quit Work. Yeah, I did. I made myself believe the useless lie of becoming a ‘useful person’ in this ‘sojourn’ life. Find more time, to read more Bible, to get involved more in church, to make some difference in the lives of people, and finally save the day. Yeah, I kidded myself into quitting work.

So here I am, saving the day, for myself and for you all.

And, So here I am, saving the day, for myself and for you all. Got it, now?

Good.

Baseless rants, Books, Frivolously Yours, Music

Frivolously Yours,

The first time I read Erich Segal’s Acts of Faith was almost 5 – 6 years back.  Just finished re-reading it. Okay, in the end it is the usual happily-ever-after, but what makes it compelling is the beautiful twists that you find in almost every chapter. Love the book, just totally do.

Acts of defiance… Acts of love… Acts of faith.

Moving on from sappiness, I just got my hands full – literally. If you want  to see why, here.

Wimpy All the way… Eee Haw!

And am incessantly listening to ‘The Scientist’ by ColdPlay.

So, then, So long.

I remain, as ever, yours frivolously.
