Yesterday, I was listening to Friends Forever (Graduation) by Vitamin C. The last time I listened to it was, ummm.. lemme think, graduation. My friend SI had posted the song on our class’s yahoo groups page. I remember listening to it so many times then. Singing to everyone that “as our lives change come whatever, we will still be friends forever…”.
So weird that listening to it now – when our lives have changed just as Vitamin C prophesied – * come whatever, even boatloads of downtime, I am not ‘friends forever’ with all those people I sang the song with. SI – the friend that introduced the song, I can only hope and pray he is alive and well. So much for friends-forever oaths.
Though we stood in groups, holding hands, rubbing shoulders and sincerely singing Friends are friends forever, only my closest few have stuck by me since graduation.
I read this somewhere, Real friends are the ones who survive transitions between address books. Well, can’t agree more.
Point of the post : None. Who told you to expect something, anyway?
* (Okay, I know the hyphen was unnecessary, but it makes me look intelligent, So :P)
